National Falls Awareness Week21-25 June 2010
This year National Falls Awareness Day has been extended to a week-long celebration‚ which will take place 21 – 25 June. The theme for 2010 is the importance of physical activity‚ and Hackney Stop Falls Network will be promoting strength and balance exercises. Physical activity is one of the best ways of improving our health. Not only can it reduce the risk of getting serious conditions‚ such as heart disease‚ strokes‚ and certain cancers‚ but targeted programmes for strength and balance can dramatically lower the risk of falls. So come and join us at one of our events and learn about the many exercise opportunities for older people in Hackney. As well as talks and refreshments there will be the opportunity to take part in an exercise session lead by one of our qualified tutors. Do be aware that our events are very popular and fill up extremely quickly so please use our Contact Us page and let us know which event you want to attend and if you would like to take part in an exercise session.
If you are a professional working in the area of Falls Prevention and want to get involved in an event for National Falls Awareness Week then please do use our Contact Us page to register your interest and we will get back to you, thank you! |
